25 event professionals from all sectors of the industry took part in the inaugural event industry charity cyclathon at Silverstone yesterday.
Covering 279 miles in the 3-hour endurance race, Team Velo Rosso, made up of Nick Grecian (Gallowglass Group), Jon Sigsworth (Gallowglass Crewing Ltd), Gary Wootton (TRO), Gosia Cyganowska (specialist event photographer) and James Emery (Le Col) won the event overall.
Utilising the Grand Prix circuit for the race and the state-of-the art event facilities at The Silverstone Wing Conference & Exhibition Centre for the support teams and logistics, five teams of event professionals took part in the endurance cycle race, raising money for charities including Events For Namuwongo, Meeting Needs, Walk Tall and Pancreatic Cancer Research Fund.
Nick Grecian, team captain of Team Velo Rosso and Managing Director of Gallowglass Group, said, “It was an amazing opportunity to take part in this inaugural charity event. To be at Silverstone, such an iconic venue, using the garages and amazing event spaces as well as out on the track was an incredible experience. Congratulations to all the teams that took part and congratulations to the rest of my team for winning the trophy!”
Chris Zachar, Head of Sales at The Silverstone Wing said, “The Grand Prix circuit is synonymous with racing and all the teams were excited to be able to take the track on two non-motorised wheels! With the iconic Silverstone Wing Conference & Exhibition Centre as the backdrop, it was a pleasure to host the event professionals from across the sector in their efforts to raise money for charity.”
