As part of its plan to deliver a greener Showman’s Show 2018, organiser Lance Show & Publications Limited is advocating sustainable travel to the event professionals travelling to Newbury Showground on 17th-18thOctober.
Several initiatives are in place that will allow both exhibitors and visitors to reduce the carbon footprint of their journeys to the show. These include working with Energy Revolution to offset emissions; offering an electric car charging service and teaming up with GoCarShare.
Lance Show & Publications Limited has signed up to Energy Revolution’s scheme to offset emissions. The team who organise the Showman’s Show is recording and balancing its company travel miles and encouraging visitors, exhibitors and contractors to do the same by using Energy Revolution’s Travel Calculator. Energy Revolution works with events to find ways to reduce emissions and balance unavoidable carbon emissions with a direct investment in projects that create clean renewable energy.
In addition, the Showman’s Show’s electrical contractor Excell Electrical is teaming up with fellow exhibitors IDE Systems and John F. Hunt to provide an electrical car charging facility at this year’s event. Located to the left-hand side of the Exhibition Hall, the dedicated area is available to all exhibitors and visitors to the show. Running from an existing generator set and power supply it will offer two charging outlets. A similar service was offered by the three companies this summer at the Game Fair and proved to be a success. Anyone who would like to access the service should contact Lance Show & Publications Limited for details.
The organiser is also partnering with GoCarShare for the second year in succession. GoCarShare is popular with festival and sporting event goers who find that the service, where drivers link up with passengers, with the latter paying a contribution to the trip, is a great way to be kind to the environment and take the hassle out of travelling. GoCarSharing is a green movement that has very clear benefits to the environment. It offers visitors not only a sustainable, but also affordable way to travel to Newbury Showground this year.
Commenting on the sustainable travel initiatives that are available to the Showman’s Show visitors and exhibitors this year, show director, Johnny Lance said: “Travel is always a major factor in an event’s environmental impact. We’re hoping that by encouraging our own visitors and exhibitors to consider sustainable options that this will highlight and promote them to the wider event industry.”
