THE NORTH EAST’S leading events’ company is walking on air, following the success of its hospitality operation at one of the region’s major events.
1879 Events Management ran three sites at this year’s Sunderland International Airshow, providing a range of packages to visitors, along with running public bars and food outlets for thousands of attendees.
The company created platinum and gold packages for guests and operated a food court at Ocean Park on Sunderland seafront, while manning a further food operation at the near-by Recreation Park.
Over the weekend around 280 staff were involved in the event, which takes place annually at the seafront in Sunderland and brings in huge numbers of visitors.
The team at 1879 Events Management ran two hospitality offerings at Cliffe Park, which included the Lancaster Lounge for those who had opted for a gold package and the Black Cats Lounge for platinum customers.
Both offered summer buffets with a huge variety of dishes, as well as afternoon tea on some of the days.
More than 800 VIP guests were catered for over the weekend, with 1879 Events Management also responsible for the public bars.
“This is a massive operation for us because the Sunderland International Airshow is such a well-established event which always attracts huge crowds,” said Gary Hutchinson, Director of 1879 Events Management.
“It’s also a great undertaking for us logistically, setting up kitchens across a number of sites with different offerings in each location.
“We have had fantastic feedback from the guests who had nothing but praise for the food and service, which is a great testimony to the hard work of the entire team.”
The success at the Sunderland International Airshow comes just a week after 1879 Events Management provided all of the catering at Newcastle Pride, which welcomed more than 70,000 attendees.
